Situated on the outskirts of the eponymous village, Lac de Quinson stretches for 11 km between the lower reaches of the Gorges de Baudinard and the lower gorges, and is actually a series of small, wild lakes intersected by the Quinson dam, including Lac de Montpezat, Lac d’Artignosc and Lac de Quinson.

You’ll be amazed! You’ll realize that as we move along this trail, we free ourselves from modern distractions and open ourselves up to a more authentic experience.
Watersports activities for all around the lake
As with the other Verdon lakes, there’s no shortage of pedalo, electric boat and canoerentals around the Quinson dam.
A walk along the water from lake to lake
From Lac de Quinson, descend the Basses Gorges du Verdon to Lac d’Esparron. By boat for epicureans, or by canoe for the more sporty! Our tip for exploring the Lower Gorges is a round trip. We recommend starting from Esparron-de-Verdon to take advantage of the current on the way back.
Geology and a prestigious prehistory museum
Between these walls lie many hidden corners, caves and geological formations, each with its own share of history and mystery. For the romantically inclined, inspiration abounds here! Curious about history? Around Quinson, numerous traces of habitation dating back to the dawn of humanity have been found, justifying the presence of Europe’s largest Museum of Prehistory in the region. The museum offers fascinating permanent and temporary collections, as well as original activities enabling you to experience prehistory at first hand, such as fire lighting and archery. The reconstructed prehistoric village on the banks of the Verdon offers an immersion in the past of the Gorges du Verdon. What are you waiting for, then, to go and disguise yourself in the skin of a prehistoric man?
