BOUN'ESTIVAL #19 – Street Arts Festival
Bounas hamlet
(12 noon–2 pm) Come and have a picnic with us!
Les Beaux Draps / Cie. La Tâche
A contemporary… or contemplative clown solo.
(2pm) 1 hour – suitable for ages 11 and over, though younger children see something different in it, and that’s just as well
Exploring the body, its inner workings, what passes through it and what emerges from it. Sometimes it spills over, and that’s awkward. From the woman I am to the clown who lives within me, where is the boundary? It won’t just be funny; it’s hard and gentle, dirty and beautiful, sensitive and wild. Prohöck Niak discovers her living, changing body as the seasons pass. She invites us to witness the spectacle of her bodily upheavals, revealing her physical intimacy, which is both unique and universal. One thing leading to another, she finds herself transformed. Prohöck: a Cambodian condiment made from fermented fish paste. Repulsive due to its strong smell but essential for bringing out flavours. Niak: you need to have it to do what we love.
Goldi / Cie. Superfluu
The Truth About Goldilocks and Gangsta Rap
(4pm) 1 hour 15 mins – ages 7 and up
Forget what you thought you knew. Discover the whole truth about Goldilocks and Gangsta Rap. With boldness, GOLDI reveals to the general public the links between two worlds that are polar opposites: children’s imagination and the history of Hip-Hop. Driven by biting humour and infectious energy, GOLDI invites us to see the world differently. A narrative where music and infallible theories intertwine to pay tribute to a major cultural movement. A show rich in lessons, somewhere between inconsequential conspiracy, post-modern musical and a major historical revelation.
Good old Sam / Cie. des Tubercules
The Moustached Jukebox
(5.30 pm) 1 hour 30 mins – Suitable for all ages
This isn’t a show about choice, but then again, perhaps it is. Imagine a jukebox in the flesh, a living jukebox – a bon vivant, even – dressed in a costume. With a moustache. Not exactly bushy, but still. A jukebox, then, with a mischievous spirit, who engages the audience and loves nothing more than creating shared moments where everyone takes part – forming a spontaneous choir, a makeshift orchestra with the audience – in the light-hearted joy of being together. The songs – classics from around the world compiled into a set list – are merely a pretext for creating this timeless moment. The audience chooses them, and good old Sam, as a craftsman of the present moment, uses them as the raw material for his performances. With his guitar, his coloured feathers and his strange machines, he interprets them in his very own way: he twists them, turns them on their head, sometimes butchers them to the delight of the rowdy crowd; other times he elevates them because it’s beautiful too when it’s simply beautiful. With his accordion, he blends into the crowd and it’s a crescendo of pure, simple joy.
