Description
What would a world look like if imbalance were valued? This solo, compact yet intense, experiments with reversing the forces that govern us.
Gravity does more than define our relationship to the world — it shapes how we move and perceive, notes Thibaut Eiferman. In Terre 1, he explores this connection between “up” and “down” that underpins life on Earth, and attempts to invert the perspective.
Alone on stage, he first traces the arc of a life in a loop, from birth to reincarnation, testing gesture after gesture against gravity, searching for balance — or rather, the “maintained imbalance” that both limits and prevents a fall. Eventually, everything tips into a world ruled by imagination, where instinct guides desire. Variéras’ soundscape, blending music, diverse noises, and children’s voices, accompanies the journey, while Alice Vasseur’s abstract, sensitive scenography — including three large colorful canvases on stage — frames each step. Playful yet disorienting, the gradual relearning of simple actions (“You walk and you fall!”) mirrors the new relationships suggested by this perspective. From struggle to surrender, the audience witnesses a mechanical, functional body transform into a living organism.
